Meet Neighbourhood Chaplains
Neighbourhood Chaplains is the evangelism programme that helps churches meet a recognised need in a community.
Through this ministry we want to meet practical, spiritual and emotional needs in local neighbourhood, build strong and lasting links with members of a local community, create a safe places to make disciples - who will go on to make disciples.
Neighbourhood Chaplains consist of 4 teams working together - Lead Chaplains/connectors, Helping Hands Team, Befrienders team and Prayer team.
Before we ed in April, we were prayer-walking the streets around the church and lifting the community in prayer.
You can join us in prayer when you are doing your daily commute, walking the dog or you could meet with friend to pray together.
Here are some prayer points you could start with:
Pray for the local community - Pray that the Lord helps our Chaplains to begin meaningful relationships with local residents and build trust. That people we build relationships with and ones we help become curious about Jesus and start seeking Him. That they are saved!
Pray for the wisdom - Pray for wisdom for our Chaplains when they speak to neighbours and local residents. That God may use their strengths, weaknesses and personal stories to help them connect with people they meet.
Pray for the safety - Pray for our Chaplains' safety when they go out to meet people. Ask the Lord to protect them from physical or verbal abuse and give them discernment and wisdom when dealing with difficult situations.
Pray for the support - Pray for support and cooperation from local authorities and services - Stockport Council, social services, outpatient services, GP surgeries, police, social prescribers, foodbanks, local charities - to build relationships and to work together.
